July 28, 1943- July 5, 2022
The beautiful soul of Barbara Jane Fink Mabie 78, of Bayville departed from this world on July 5, 2022. Barbara was born on July 28, 1943 in Williamsport Pennsylvania to Robyn and Barbara Fink who provided her with an idyllic childhood that included a loving family and fantastic memories of hiking, fishing, boating, and sailing at their family cabins in Pennsylvania and Canada.
Barbara worked in her parents paint store in Williamsport Pennsylvania as a young teen where she witnessed and subsequently learned the importance of getting to know and appreciating people. During her employment at Finks paint store she attended Lock Haven University and Bloomfield College. Barbara moved to New Jersey after college and worked as a dedicated employee for the Bell and Verizon telephone companies. Barbara eventually found her truest callings in her unwavering dedication to the service of others by providing exemplary care for young teens, and later for adult and senior citizens. Barbara worked as a very loved mentor for at risk Juveniles in Ocean County. She helped them to see beyond their momentary limitations, and to recognize all that they could be by helping them to reach their greatest potentials. Barbara later worked as a most respected and requested Certified Home Health Aide for Affordable Senior Home Care where she formed familial-like bonds of trust, respect, and friendship with her clients and their families. Her care provided unwavering dedication to ensure comfort, joy, and dignity for her clients and their families.
Barbara excelled in her most cherished role as a proud grandmother to her grandchildren Gwendolyn and Hakon who were the lights of her life. She spent her time thinking of ways to create precious memories by planning and experiencing adventures with them in; baking, gardening, beaches, Disney World and theme parks, restaurants, museums, states, historic cities and towns.
Barbara was truly unique to all who knew her. She selflessly dedicated her life to making things better for other people, and enjoyed doing so. She was known for never saying a negative thing about anyone. She taught those around her to see the best in all people, and in all things. An optimist to her core she spoke of living a great life, and provided countless living examples for others to live by.
Barbara is predeceased by her parents Robyn and Barbara Fink, her sister Candace Woernle, and her ex-husband Gary Mabie. Barbara will be forever loved and painfully missed by her daughter Candace and son in law David Ericson, her grandchildren Gwendolyn and Hakon, her brother Michael Fink, her dear friend Ken Andersen, many friends, many nephews, a niece and a large loving family.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River. Burial will follow at Bayville Cemetery in Bayville.
