
2018. She was born in Union NJ on June 19, 1930. She graduated from Union High
School.
She was married to Stanley Matejkowski on December 31, 1948. They had just
celebrated their 69th Wedding Anniversary. They met on the beach, and moved to
Seaside Park in 1949.
Betty-Jane was a very loving, attentive, and supportive wife, mother, grandmother and
great grandmother. Her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were
her most treasured possessions in life. She had 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Betty-Jane was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, in both Gloria Chapter #159
and Wall Chapter #143 for many years. She and her husband were Most Worthy
Grand Matron and Grand Patron for the State of NJ 1987-1988. She spent many
tireless hours involved in this charitable organization. She was also a member of the
Seaside Park Elementary School PTA, and Seaside Park Fire Auxiliary. Betty-Jane
was a member of Seaside Park Union Church where at one time was a Sunday School
Superintendent.
She was a beautician for many years. She worked as a secretary in the Board Office of
Central Regional High School and also Hugh J Boyd Elementary School in Seaside
Heights. In her retirement, Betty-Jane enjoyed working for the Borough of Seaside
Heights Beach Control for a few summers.
Betty-Jane loved the beach, and cherished the many seashells known as friends she
gathered throughout her life.
Betty-Jane is survived by her husband of 69 years Stanley, and her four daughters:
Thea Fuhrmann Adcock and husband Denny of Illinois; Terry Jones and husband Dr.
Charles Jones of Richmond, Va.; Toni DiGuilio and husband Louis of Seaside Heights;
and Jeane Taylor and husband Lloyd of Millville, DE.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at Anderson and Campbell. Burial will follow at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown.
