Catherine M. Cartwright

Catherine M. (Kay) Cartwright, 89, of Toms River, died Sunday, August 8,2021 peacefully in her home. Born in Elizabeth, NJ she moved to Toms River 68 years ago. She was married to Robert M. Cartwright on September 11,1954 at St. Joseph Church and they raised their family in Toms River.

Catherine graduated from St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing in 1953 as a Registered Nurse. Early in her career she was a school nurse at St. Joseph’s Grammar School in Toms River. She continued her career as a nurse at Toms River Convalescent Center, retiring from Garden State Rehab Hospital (now Encompass Health) in 1984. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph RC Church in Toms River.

Catherine was pre-deceased by her parents Paul and Mary Wich, her husband of 59 years Robert Cartwright, her daughter Margaret (Peggy) Moncrief, her brothers Charles and Fred Wich and granddaughter Corrine Webb.

She is survived by her loving children, Catherine Osborne and her husband Robert of Palm Coast, FL, Nancy Webb and her husband Ronald of Toms River and Thomas Cartwright of Toms River; four grandchildren, Alyssa Webb, Aaron Moncrief, Melissa Moncrief, and Karie Moncrief, and eight great grandchildren.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 9:00 am at St. Joseph Church in Toms River with a private committal service to follow at St Joseph’s Cemetery.
