

Charles Joseph Hayes, 76, of Toms River, NJ, passed away on July 28, 2014, at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Jersey City, NJ, and lived in Hoboken until moving to Toms River in 1965. Charles was a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. He worked for the Dover Township Police Department as a patrolman until his promotion to Sergeant in 1972. He retired from the force in 1977. Charles later worked as Director of Security for Toms River Regional Schools for twenty years, retiring in 2000. He was a communicant of St. Joseph Church and was very active as both head and assistant football coach for St. Joseph H.S., and also coached Pop Warner Football for St. Joseph Angels.
Charles was predeceased by his sister Mary Pasquale. He is survived by his loving wife Ann Morrisroe Hayes of 53 years; his three sons: Charles Jr., of Bayville, Thomas and his wife Robyn of Toms River, and Michael and his wife Nancy of Brick; his daughter Nancy Hayes of Toms River; his brother Robert Hayes and his wife Lee of Toms River; his brother-in-law Pete Pasquale of Brick; his grandchildren: Jaimee, Patrick, Jessica, and Ryan; his many nieces and nephews, and his beloved Dog Kalli.
Visitation will be Thursday 4-8 PM, at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 11 AM at St. Joseph Church in Toms River. Burial will be immediately following at St. Joseph Cemetery in Toms River. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to one's favorite charity.
