Claire M. Walters

Claire M. Walters, 92, of Howell, NJ, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2018, at Brandywine Senior Living in Howell. She was born in Newark, NJ, to Frank and Ann (Hertling) Poth, and graduated Eastside H.S. in Newark. She then went on to study at Wood Tobe Coburn School of Fashion, NYC, NY. Claire worked in retail at Steinbachs Department Store in Brick. She was the owner and operator of the Ocean Spray Hotel in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ. She also had a wedding business – Claire’s Wedding Services – in Point Pleasant Beach and was a proud member of the Point Pleasant Chamber of Commerce. Claire loved life. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family, playing cards and going to Atlantic City. Her greatest joy came from playing the piano, a gift that she was most accomplished with and loved sharing. A true lady and classy woman…she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Claire was predeceased by her beloved husband Henry (Hank) Walters in 2008, and her daughter Elyse Wolon in 2015. She is survived by her son Glenn and his companion Mara Rodriguez; her three grandchildren: Glenn, Courtney, and Brieanna; and her dear friends Sam Samuelian, Susan, Nicole and Alyssa Esposito.

Visitation will be Friday, February 23, from 10AM until the Funeral Service at 11, at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River, NJ 08753. Entombment will follow at Ocean County Memorial Park in Toms River. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Claire.
