Daniel E. Sommers Jr.

Daniel E Sommers Jr. 73, faithful and beloved husband to his wife of 39 years. A diligent father and guardian to his only son. Was born in George Washington University Hospital in Maryland to Dorothy and Dan Sommers. He was one of three boys, Gary and Michael who loved and respected their older brother.

Went to Holy Spirit High School in Absecon, New Jersey. Graduated from Seton Hall University with a degree in history. Started a teaching career before entering his longtime career in finance as a pension specialist. He was considered brilliant and kind among his peers in the financial community.

Enjoyed all sports, his favorite was basketball. Was a avid runner who ran many marathons including the Boston, New York City, and San Francisco, plus many others.

He absolutely loved spending time with his family. Taking walks with his wife and going to the movies with his son. Above all he loved traveling with his family. Their yearly trip to upstate New York at Lake Wasco, and Skaneateles Lake was some of their most cherished memories.

He loved all of his family, immediate and extended. Especially the Sons and Daughter’s of Don and Jack Sommers. His Uncle Jack, being the twin brother of his father. Well liked and revered by his wife’s brothers and their families.

Daniel was very much loved, surrounded by his wife and son, during the his final moments. He will live on in all of our memories as an example of what a “gentlemen” should be.

A visitation for Daniel will be held Friday, February 21, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River, NJ 08753, followed by a visitation from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in memory of Daniel.
