Domenico J. Susini Jr. passed away peacefully at home on June 7, 2021, at 10:22AM with his loving family surrounding him. He joins his beautiful wife Josephine to continue their love story in Heaven. He was 92 years young. He was born on February 27, 1929, in Camden, NJ, to Dominique and Louisa Susini. Domenico married Josephine Szelesta on November 10, 1953. They made their home in Dumont, NJ where they raised 5 beautiful children. They had a love story like no other; and 67 amazing years together. In 2004 they retired in Holiday City, Toms River, where he remained until his passing.
Domenico was a devoted and most loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was the kindest most gentle soul that could light up a room with his smile. He had a magical gift for gardening. Any plant he touched was made more beautiful. He opened his home every Sunday for family dinner, a memory we will all cherish forever. He did everything with love for everyone he met, but especially for his family. There aren’t enough words to explain how special he was, and it was equally matched by his strength of character. He was a fighter to the very end. He always beat the odds in every obstacle he was faced with. He was selfless and generous. He lived for his wife and took care of her every need until her last breath. Their love story is the most beautiful and inspiring that our family has ever known. We feel peace knowing they are together in Heaven, side by side once again.
Domenico is survived by their 5 children, daughter and husband, Linda and Jimmy; son and wife, Domenico III and Marisa; daughter, Diane; daughter, Kathy; daughter and son-in-law, Beatrice and Steve; and his adopted daughter Millie; grandchildren, John, Diane, Jaime, Joel, Sean and wife Jackie, Justin, Dawn, Jacquelyn and fiancé Gabriel III, David, Kayla, Dana and husband Torgeir, Jennifer and husband Gene, Sharon and husband Steve, Jodi and Christian, Steven Jr., Tara and fiancé Edwin, Dominick; plus 17 great grandchildren, Hailey, Ryan, Jordyn, Gabriel IV, Greyson, Jaidyn, Julian, Jolie, Jaxon, Jacob, Sophia, Sebastian, Sage, Silas, Averi, Christian, Theadora, and two more on the way. From the years 1948 to 1954 he was a SGT./cook in the Army. He loved his country and served it honorably. He always said those were some of the best times of his life. For over 20 years he worked in the Guarantee Supermarket as a produce manager, after that he started picking produce up in the city for Ike in between landscaping jobs. He also had a successful business at Faithful Works in Leonia, NJ. He leaves behind a family that he was very proud of. Not a day will go by that we will not feel his loss. All whom loved him will never forget his, generosity, perseverance, the twinkle in his eyes, his mischievous behavior, his loving heart, and where his whatchamacallit was. He once said “don’t forget me, and don’t ever forget your grandmother!” We will never forget them. They will be in our hearts always and forever Ama and Gaga. Please sign the guestbook or share your favorite memory of Gaga. We would love to cherish these stories forever.
