surrounded by family. Ethel, daughter of Morris and Mary Pincus was born on June 5, 1931
in Brooklyn, New York. She met the love of her life, Lester Wunderlich in Far Rockaway, NY
on June 3, 1949; and on June 10,1950, they were married. They were together for over 71
years, proudly lauded in the Asbury Park Press for how rare an accomplishment it is!
Ethel was a bookkeeper for many years with Nu Image Fabrics, a family owned textile
company in New York. She was a devoted mother to her daughters Lynne Ducker and
Mimi Wunderlich, son Fred Wunderlich and Fred’s wife, Stephanie Earl; a doting grandmother
to David Sperling and his wife, Kelly, and Matthew Sperling and his girlfriend, Dawn Fratello.
And perhaps her greatest joy, a loving great grandmother to Kyle Sperling (age 13) and
Colleen Sperling (age 11). Ethel is also survived by her sister-in-law, Sandy Frimmet and her
children Tobi Klein, Douglas Frimmet and Marci Scherl and their partners and children, as well
as some cousins.
Ethel was an accomplished knitter and crocheter. We have many afghans, sweaters and
scarves to prove it! She was a mahjongg player (2 Bam 3 Crak) for 75 years and even
continued to play while suffering with dementia. She loved her family..most of all her “Bub,"
Lester. She was Bubie, he was Bub and rarely did you hear them call each other by their
given names. They loved to dance, travel, go to restaurants and drink fine wine. Probably
their greatest accomplishment was their enduring relationship. They set the bar high for
what a good marriage should be. When Ethel lost her Bub six months ago, she was lost.
Now Bub and Bubie can be together again, dancing away to a Frank Sinatra, Harry Belafonte
or Neil Diamond song!
