He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Born in Columbus, he lived in Bordentown before moving to Toms River in the mid-1970s.
Frank was someone who, when you heard his laugh, you knew he was nearby. He was always striking up conversations, making new friends, and genuinely enjoying life. He saved up and traveled throughout Europe on leave while stationed in Germany with friends, seeing Monaco, Spain, Switzerland, among other wonderful places. He told stories of what it was like to grow up with a big family, and always reflected fondly on his memories. He loved his brothers and sister, and was happy to have so many nieces and nephews around. He was a very proud grandfather who always carried a photo of his youngest grandson in his wallet, and a photo of his great-grandson in his car to share with all of his friends. His memory was as sharp as a tack, and he continued to learn, evolve, and grow with the times. His presence was truly a blessing, and he had a big heart full of love.
Frank met his first wife, Lois, during childhood. Their mothers were friends, and they grew up very close to one another. They wed on September 28, 1957, after he returned from a tour in Germany with the U.S. Army during peacetime occupation. Frank and Lois together had 3 children, spending roughly 20 years married before her untimely passing due to cancer. He spent many years taking his son, Frank Jr., with him everywhere- down in the pines, to the hunting club, they were inseparable.
Frank was able to find love again with his second wife, Rose Marie, with whom he spent 45 years before her passing. With this second marriage, Frank and Rose blended a family of 7, his 3 three children with her 2 children, Frank John and Drew Murphy. Frank moved with his children from Bordentown to Toms River and spent the rest of his life there with Rose.
In his later years, you could find Frank down at the clubhouse playing cards, pool, or working on a puzzle with his friends. If he wasn’t found there, he could be found down at the casino in Atlantic City. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren. He would take them down to the beach, out to the boardwalk for ice cream, on a drive to see family, always on the go and thinking of things to do. Meeting and spending time with his great-grandchildren brought him even more joy. He talked about them frequently, and fondly, with a smile and a laugh.
Frank lived a long, fulfilling life, surrounded by family and friends. His smile and his laughter that brightened any room will be remembered by all who love him. He will be dearly missed by all.
