Garry is survived by his former wife, Lucille; his daughter, Jennifer Blair, and her husband, Tom; his beloved granddaughters, Brianna and Ashley; his brother, Brian Eck; and his sister, Sharon Meluso. He also leaves behind countless extended family members, friends, and loved ones whose lives were brightened by his presence throughout his 78 year journey with us.
Garry grew up in Jersey City but spent the last 55 years of his life in South Jersey, living between Toms River and Manchester Township. He cherished his time on the streets of Jersey City as well as the Seaside boardwalk, where he created countless memories with lifelong friends and family.
Garry worked for over 50 years in the electrician and lighting industries. After beginning his career at Public Service, he made his way into sales for Bryant. Gary then moved to Progress Lighting where he spent most of his career. His professional achievements were unparalleled, winning numerous awards throughout his tenure. It is without a doubt that his vibrant personality and genuine character made lasting impacts on his coworkers and his clients alike.
A true enthusiast of American muscle cars, Garry had a great passion for horsepower and craftsmanship. He owned numerous Corvettes and other classic models over the years—each unique, yet all sharing the same similarities they had with his persona; power-packed, well respected, and fun.
When not cruising around in his hot-rods, he often hit the road in search of the perfect hot-dog; and always found time to enjoy the best ones from his childhood favorites, Rutt’s Hut and Blvd Drinks.
Baseball was another of Garry’s great loves. Growing up in the era of legends like Whitey Ford, Roger Maris, and his all-time favorite, Mickey Mantle, he became one of the most devoted Yankee fans you could ever meet. His enthusiasm for the game inspired many around him, creating memories filled with excitement, laughter, and love.
Garry was also an avid cruiser who found joy in the sun-soaked beaches of the Caribbean. With a Malibu Bay Breeze in hand and the ocean wind at his back, he was in his element—relaxed, happy, and lighting up every moment shared with his family at sea.
Above all else, Garry’s greatest joy in life was his family. His daughter, Jennifer, and his granddaughters, Brianna and Ashley, were the center of his world. His love for them was immeasurable and unwavering.
A celebration of Garry’s life will be held on May 30, 2026, at Anderson-Campbell Funeral Home in Toms River, NJ, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
