

George Robert Wissing, 82, of Bayville, NJ, formerly of Surfside Beach, SC, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, May 3, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Wissing was born in Iselin, NJ and raised in Woodbridge, NJ. George and his wife Patricia married in 1951 and raised 4 children in Brick, NJ. He was a veteran, serving in the Korean War, and worked in aviation for 36 years; 3 years active duty, and 33 years as a civilian/Air Force Reserves at McGuire AFB. George retired in 1987, and later moved to Surfside Beach, SC in 1994. He and his wife Patricia loved living at the beach and enjoyed all the activities that come along with being at the shore. George was an avid NY Yankees fan, and even tried out for them as a pitcher before he was drafted, and loved the Pittsburgh Steelers. Nothing was more important to George and his wife than family and friends. George was the beloved husband of Patricia of 58 years who predeceased him in 2010.
He is survived by his sister Anne Martell of FL; his children, Arthur (Sue), Richard, Lindalee Fortner (Daryl) and Michael (Eileen); grandchildren, Kevin, Lauren, Austin, Matthew, Patrick, Caroline, Marissa and Jessica; and great grandsons Gino and Connor.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 6 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River, NJ. A Funeral Mass for George and his wife Patricia will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 7 at St. Barnabas Church, 33 Woodland Rd., Bayville. A committal service and Military Honors for George and Patricia will be held on Friday, May 9 at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ, for their final resting place in the columbarium. Please sign the guestbook with messages of condolences at www.andersonandcampbell.com.
