

James E. Tava, 96, of Toms River, NJ, passed away on Friday, June 22, 2012, at Community Medical Center in Toms River, NJ. He was born in Hazelton, PA. He lived in Newark, NJ, before moving to Toms River, where he has lived for the past 22 years. James was an avid bowler and loved to dance. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Newark as a Mechanic for 25 years. He owned and operated Speed Pitch on Casino Pier and Fun Town Pier in Seaside Heights for 30 years. Mr. Tava proudly served his country in the Army Air Corp during WW II. He dearly loved his country and its flag. He was a member of the American Legion George P. Vanderveer Post #129 in Toms River and of the American Postal Workers Union AFL-CIO.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Julia Tava; his three sons: James H. Tava of Toms River, Eugene J. Tava and his wife Janet (Brignola) of Weehawkin, and Wayne T. Tava and his wife Sami of Toms River; and one daughter Linda J. Tava of Toms River; five grandchildren: Chris, Gina, Alexandria, Marisa and Jack; and six great-grandchildren: Eric, Brionna, Maleah, Natalia, Shawn and Elijah.
Visitation will be on Thursday, June 28th from 10AM till the service at 12Noon at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River, NJ. Burial will be immediately following at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River, NJ. Condolences may be shared at www.andersonandcampbell.com
