

James W. Unkert, 46, of Toms River, NJ, passed away on December 27, 2015, at Community Medical Center in Toms River surrounded by his loving family. Born in Livingston, NJ, he grew up in Stillwater, NJ and graduated from Kittatinny Regional H.S. in Hampton. He enjoyed wrestling and participated in the sport during both his grade school and high school years. In 1988, Jim was in an auto accident that left him wheelchair bound and with a Traumatic Brain Injury. Jim not only survived 27 years, he rose to a level of life that enabled him to again participate in the world around him. Jim touched many lives and hearts, and his family cannot thank and praise enough the devoted caregivers who helped him in his journey through life.
Jim is survived by his loving parents: Shirley and Dennis Unkert; his sister Sherry Tomasula and her husband Stephen; his brother Brian Unkert and his wife Alison; his nieces and nephews: David, Lauren, Dylan and Brielle; his maternal Grandmother Mildred Roth, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many loyal caregivers. Jim was predeceased by his grandparents: Charles Roth, and William and Gertrude Unkert.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 2, 2016, from 1 to 5PM, with a service at 3PM at Anderson and Campbell, 703 Main St., Toms River. Cremation will be private.
