

James W. Valentine (Jim), a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, passed away at his home in Manchester, New Jersey, on August 5, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was 85 years old.
Born in Queens, New York, on February 6, 1940, Jim became a lifelong resident of New Jersey. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy. He was known throughout his life for his unwavering kindness, his readiness to lend a helping hand, and his strong work ethic that inspired all who knew him.
Jim is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Lorraine; his children: Kevin (wife Lisa), Brian, Jenny (Basis), and Jimmy (wife Jennifer); and his seven cherished grandchildren: Michael, Joseph, Addison, Gavin, Royal, Chelsea and Ryan. He also leaves behind his brother Robert Valentine and sister Katherine Jordan. He was preceded in death by his brothers Richard, William, John, and Raymond Valentine.
A memorial service to celebrate Jim’s life will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Horizon Funeral Home located at 1329 NJ-37, Toms River, New Jersey 08755. Friends and relatives are invited to visit beginning at 12:00 PM, with the memorial service taking place at 2:30 PM.
In honor of Jim’s generous spirit, the family encourages you to pay it forward by helping those around you. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
