

Janet Grace McLaughlin Brown Irving, 90, died in hospice care at Monmouth Medical Center on December 2. She lived in Newark and in Ocean Gate as a child, and spent her adult life in Beachwood, Holmdel and Manchester. Janet was a Den Mother of Cub Scout Pack 14 for nearly 18 years. She also volunteered for many years with the US Coast Guard Auxiliary, and loved everything about the ocean, including sailing and boating. Janet was also passionate about all things Scottish, especially sheep and Scottish Terriers.
She was born in Newark at Presbyterian Hospital on January 14, 1921. As a young girl she decided to make following Jesus the most important aim in her life. She enjoyed happy fellowship at Fifth Avenue Chapel in Belmar and Bethany Bible Chapel in Toms River.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Thomas Haughey Brown who died in 2003. She is survived by her second husband, Joseph Irving, who she married in 2007. She is also survived by her children, Thomas Haughey Brown, Jr. (Celeste Ann Brown) and Dr. James W. Brown (Sally Jacober-Brown) as well as 10 grandchildren, 7 step grandchildren, and 1 great granddaughter.
Visitation will be on Monday, December 12 from 2 to 4 PM and from 6 to 8 PM at the Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street Toms River (732) 349-5700. A Funeral Service will be held at Bethany Bible Chapel, 2341 Church Road, Toms River, NJ 08753 on Tuesday December 13 at 10 AM, followed by internment at Riverside Cemetery in Toms River. Her family already misses her very much, and takes comfort in knowing that the Lord is, and continues to be, her Shepherd.
