Born in Glasgow, Scotland, she came to the United States in 1950, settling in New York City.
She lived in Old Bridge from 1960 until settling in Greenbriar Woodlands in 1989.
Mrs. Macdonald was an active member of the Greenbriar community, where she was a member of the Red Hats and enjoyed playing in the golf and bowling leagues.
She was a volunteer at Deborah Heart and Lung Center, Browns Mills, and formerly was a volunteer at Princeton Medical Center.
She was predeceased by her husband, Peter in 2011, and her son, Keith in 1997.
Surviving are her children, Craig of South River, Grant and his wife Diane of Morristown, and Laurie Macdonald and her husband Armando Sanzari of Millstone Township; five grandchildren, Leanne, Brian, Melissa, Chris and Ian; three great-grandchildren, Charlie, Penelope and Evangeline; a brother, Brian Beddington and a sister, Marlene Smith, both of Scotland.
A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Toms River on January 9, 2016 (11am), located at 1070 Hooper Ave, Toms River.
