John Flyntz, age 89, from Barnegat NJ passed away unexpectedly at Southern Ocean County Hospital on Sunday May 5 th 2024. John is survived by his son John Flyntz and wife June of Andover NJ, his daughters Kathy Rabe and her husband Chris of Craftsbury Common VT, and Maggie King and husband Terry of Toms River NJ. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Tyler, Ben, Emily, Robert, John, Kelly, TJ, and Cameron as well as his great grandchildren Lucas, Isla, Oren, Maura, and Áine. John is predeceased by the love of his life Ann and his son Edmund. We have faith they have all been reunited with GOD in Heaven. “Captain” John Flyntz was a real man of adventure. He began his career in the Merchant Marines then onto the Navy as a pilot on the aircraft carrier Oriskany. After the Navy he was a pilot for both Pan Am and United Airlines retiring as a Captain. He always said he had the best job ever, flying to every corner of the world and getting paid for it! John was an avid target marksman and enjoyed shooting at the Cherry Ridge Range. He also loved sailing on his Hunter 31 sailboat the “Ann McKim”. The image of John at the helm and Ann manning the airhorn is cherished by all. Let us not forget his dear friend Pete E. They often enjoyed oyster’s and scotch at the Captain’s Inn. We are all grateful for that friendship. He will be missed by all. Funeral services will be held at the Good Shepard Roman Catholic Church, Andover NJ in the future
