John Mercer

John Mercer, age 85, of Toms River, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2013, at Manor By the Sea, Ocean Grove, NJ. Born in Newark, John had lived in Irvington, NJ moving to Toms River over 40 years ago. He worked for Mosler Safe Co. and spent time drinking coffee with the tellers.

He was a member of the Jersey Shore Bird Club, and a avid bird breeder. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

John was predeceased by his wife Jeanette M. Mercer in1985.

Surviving are five Sons: John Mercer, Kevin Mercer, Brian Mercer, Paul Bode and Mark Bode; two Daughters: Missy Cummings and Heather Dahlgren; a Brother William Mercer and his cherished grandchildren.

Visiting will be Tuesday, August 20th, from 2:00 to 4:00- & 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River. Funeral services will be Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River. In lieu of flowers contributions in his name may be made to the American Cancer Association P.O. Box 87, Nutley, NJ, would be appreciated.
