.John Thomas Nowak, 98, of Toms River, passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at home. Born in Buffalo, NY, he resided in Toms River since 1955. John was an auto mechanic with Downs Ford in Toms River for many years before his retirement. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WW II and a parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church in Toms River.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 65 years Margaret C. Nowak in 2010 and six siblings. Surviving are his son Tom Nowak and his wife Paula of Florida; his daughter Jane Grossman and her husband Matt of Oak Ridge, NJ; his grandchildren Jason Allen and Annie Grossman; and his siblings Celia, Helen, Frank and Henry.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St., Toms River. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, 685 Hooper Ave., Toms River. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Toms River.
