

Joseph Walter Kaleda, 88, of Pine Beach, passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2015 at home. Born in Shenandoah, PA, he lived in North Jersey prior to moving to South Toms River in 1960 and Pine Beach in 1982. He served in the US Army during WW II and the Korean War. Joseph is a retired member of the International Ladies Garment Workers and the Amalgamated Clothing Workers unions. He was a life member of South Toms River First Aid Squad and a member of the Pine Beach Senior Men’s Club. Joseph was an active member of the Ocean County Boy Scouts since 1960, serving on its Executive Board; Advisor to the Order of the Arrow; and co-founder of Troop 52, Toms River Fire Co #2, serving as Scoutmaster, Chairman and as a Committee member. He was awarded the Silver Beaver by the Council, OA Vigil Honor, and Wood Badger Scouters Award and Key. Joseph was also a member of American Legion Post 129 in Toms River and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 2577 of Palm Coast, FL.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Anna in 1997, his son Dennis and his sister Joan. Surviving are his daughters Caroline Catalino and her husband William of Eustis, FL and JoAnn Butler and her husband David of Bunnell, FL; brother Albert Karaitis of Lincoln Park; daughter-in-law Sue Kaleda of Toms River; brother-in-law Walter Stankiewicz of FL; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday, December 11 at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St., Toms River. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Ocean County Memorial Park in Toms River.
