Josephine Ristaino McCabe went home to be with her heavenly Father on February 12, 2026. Otherwise known as Dolly, she was 97 years old. She was born in Jersey City, NJ on August 3, 1928.
Dolly was predeceased by her parents, Catherine and Samuel Ristaino, her siblings Mary Pellegrino, Angie Calendriello and Al (Sonny) Ristaino, and her loving husband, Bill. She is survived by her four daughters and their spouses Johanna and Larry McCauley, Dr. MaryBeth McCabe and Daryl Kuna, Susan and Dr. Frank Sharp and Ellen McCabe and Heyward Chiaviello, along with her seven grandchildren Meghan and Luke, Billy, Sarah and Mary, Katherine, Phillip and Trista, her four great grandchildren, Noah, Nate, Nora, Lucy and Max.
Josephine grew up in Jersey City, where she lived with her family until the death of her mother at age eight. She and her siblings moved to live with her sister Mary, and her family. She married the love of her life, Bill McCabe on October 2,1955. She worked for the Western Electric Company until the birth of her children. Dolly was a homemaker at heart. She loved to bake and make all the Italian specialties that her sister taught her, while she raised her four daughters with the help of her extended family.
After Bill’s retirement from the Jersey City Fire Department, they retired to their shore home in Seaside Park, NJ continuing their 64 years of marriage until Bill’s passing in 2019. She loved Seaside Park and belonged to St. Junipero Serra Parish, and the Seaside Park Garden Club. She had numerous friends in town and kept busy with luncheons and dinners. She loved her home where family and friends came to visit. She lived there independently until a terrible fall took that independence away. Lena became her caretaker and dear friend and Dolly’s family would like to extend special thanks to Lena for her dedication and care.
Visitation will be held at Anderson and Campbell, 703 Main Street, Toms River, on Monday February 16th at 11am -1:00pm, and a Catholic Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday February 17th at 11:00am at Saint Catharine of Siena Church, 50 E Street, Seaside Park, NJ.
