

Lester graduated from Toms River High School South in 1972, Ocean County College in 1974, and Glassboro State College (now Rowan University) in 1977. It was at Glassboro State College where he met and married his wife of 35 years, Janis Kelly Tice, on June 18, 1977.
He graduated from the NJ State Police Academy in 1982, and spent most of his 25-year career as a renowned traffic safety instructor at the State Police Academy in Sea Girt, NJ. While there he was also known for his humor, playing on the State Police North Softball Team, his basketball abilities in roundball tournaments, and organizing the academy’s family barbecues. Lester retired from the NJ State Police as a lieutenant in 2007. Outside of work, Lester greatly enjoyed spending time with his family on vacations in New Hampshire. He also enjoyed sports, including tennis, golf, fishing, softball, and ping pong. He was a life-long member of the Presbyterian Church of Toms River.
Lester is survived by his wife, Janis; daughters Kelly Candace Tice Wright (Rob) and Katie Lynn Tice (fiancé: Gregg Merseles); siblings Candace Tice-Tomasik (Richard), Linda Benko (Frank), and Alan Tice (Lisa); nieces Shelby Benko and Heather Benko; nephews Michael Benko and Alex Benko; step-mother Joan Roberts Tice.
Visiting will be Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St. Toms River, NJ. Funeral Services to celebrate Lester’s life will be held Sunday, 2:00 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church of Toms River, 1070 Hooper Ave. Toms River. Donations may be made to the New Jersey Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation, 555 Route 1 South, Suite 320, Iselin, NJ 088830.
