Lester Wunderlich

Lester Wunderlich, 91, of Toms River, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2021 surrounded by family. Lester, son of Murray and Clara Wunderlich was born on September 21, 1930, in New York, NY. He met the love of his life, Ethel Pincus, in Far Rockaway, NY on June 3, 1949; and on June 10, 1950, they were married. They were together for over 71 years – proudly lauded in the Asbury Park Press for how rare an accomplishment it is! Lester was a successful business owner in the textile industry, in New York and California. He was a devoted father to his daughters Lynne Ducker and Mimi Wunderlich, son Fred Wunderlich and Fred’s wife Stephanie Earl; a doting grandfather to David Sperling and his wife Kelly, and Matthew Sperling and his girlfriend Dawn Fratello. And perhaps his greatest joy, a loving great grandfather to Kyle Sperling (age 13) and Colleen Sperling (age 10). Lester is also survived by his sister Sandy Frimmet and her children Tobi Klein, Douglas Frimmet and Marci Sherl and their partners and children.

Lester was a lifelong NY Giants fan, loved music (especially Neil Diamond), dancing, dining, travel, ice cream, movies (his all-time favorite: Young Frankenstein) and fine wine. He was funny, sharp-witted, loving, caring, charming and so much fun – especially with his kids, grandchildren and great grandchildren His impersonations of Foghorn Leghorn and the Cowardly Lion were spot-on, and his ability to recite favorite movie lines epic. In short, Lester was a friend to all, life of the party, enemy to none, and endearingly known as Pop, St. Les, (card-playing) Riverboat Pop, (master chef) Wolfgang Pop, and assorted Pop derivatives!

Services will be held on Monday, October 4th at 1130am, at Maplewood Chapel Mausoleum, 169 W Main St, Freehold, NJ 07728.
