Loraine Agnes Bartell, 78 of Egg Harbor City, passed away on Friday, September 2, 2022. Loraine was born in Passaic, NJ and grew up in Belleville, NJ. She lived in Toms River for many years before her recent move to Egg Harbor City.
Following her graduation from Belleville High School in 1961, Loraine worked as a legal secretary before becoming an integral part of the Toms River school system for 25 years as a para-professional and then secretary. During her career, Loraine was known for helping every student that walked into the office, lifting up her coworkers, and even leaving work once a week to bring her grandchildren for pizza with a “Where’s Waldo” book she borrowed from the school library. When Loraine wasn’t working, she could be found at church or enjoying time at the beach with her husband Doug and family. However, Loraine devoted most of her time and days with the purpose of helping others heal, recover, and guiding them towards a healthier life she always believed everyone deserved. Loraine was always holding her WaWa coffee in one hand and her cell phone in the other just in case someone, somewhere, needed a helping hand and a friend. Loraine’s efforts to make the world a more peaceful place will be remembered by all. She cherished her time with family, friends, and was not only able to witness, but also be an active part of celebrations for her family and grandchildren’s accomplishments.
Loraine is now reunited in heaven with her husband, the love of her life, Douglas and first-born son, baby Dougie.
She is predeceased by her father Howard Barnett and mother Anna (Miller) Barnett of Belleville; sisters Marion Barnett, Dorothea Schott, Ann Senatore, Jane Chamberlain, Mary Westpy, Gloria Dente, brother Howard Barnett
Loraine is survived by her devoted daughter Jacqueline Bartell Citta, husband James C Citta, granddaughter Caitlyn Citta of Egg Harbor City and grandson Tyler Citta of Fort Drum NY; loving son Brett Bartell, his partner Jodi Macpherson, and their son Chance of Supply NC; sister Alice Maguire of Toms River; sister Carole and her husband Daniel Riordan; an abundance of nieces and nephews, and a friend of Bill W. She was known as Mom, Momma, Grandma Rain, Rain-Dear, Sister, Aunt, Agnes, and Mrs. B.
