Lucia Purpuri

Lucia V Purpuri, 99 passed away peacefully at her home on July 9, 2023. She was born in 1924 in Toms River and a lifelong resident. She graduated Toms River High School in 1941. Lucia was a lifetime parishioner of Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church, a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the Sodality of Mary. Lucia loved serving her community, being a volunteer for the USO during WWII, Board Member of the Ocean County Chapter of the Red Cross, President of the Red Chapter of the Red Cross and the President of the Red Cedar Twig. In later years Lucia continued her service with volunteering at St Joseph School and Church and also working at Sunday Supper. Lucia is predeceased by her parents, Vincenzo & Anna Purpuri, her sisters, Giovanni Purpuri, Vincenza Butow, and her brothers, Joseph and Rosario Purpuri. She is survived by her sister Rosemarie Erbe and her sister-in-law Joan Purpuri, along with 4 generations of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Thursday, July 13, 2023 from 9:30 -10:30am at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River, NJ. A mass will be held at 11 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Toms River. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Toms River.
