Marie Joan Carroll

Marie Joan Carroll, 94, of Toms River, NJ, passed away at home on February 1st, 2016. She was born in Detroit, Michigan, to Thomas and Mary Dugan. She lived most of her life in South Toms River, NJ. Marie received her nursing degree from St. Michael’s Medical Center in Newark and started her career at the Presbyterian Hospital in NY. She worked at Paul Kimball Hospital in Lakewood for many years and in her later years of nursing at Country Manor Nursing Home and in private duty nursing.

Marie was predeceased by her husband Ben Carroll, and her son Patrick Carroll. She is survived by her son Mickey Carroll and his wife Barbara of So. Toms River, her two sisters: Patricia Tunney of Lakewood, and Dorothy Dugan of Lakewood; her brother-in-law Father Emmett Carroll of Seaside Park; her sister-in-law Eileen Garbe of Toms River; and many nieces and nephews.

There will be a Memorial Mass held on Thursday, February 11th, 10AM, at St. Joseph Church, 685 Hooper Avenue in Toms River. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the charity of your choice in Marie’s name. Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home in Toms River is in charge of arrangements.
