Mary T. Donohue

Mary T. Donohue age 80, of Berkeley Township, NJ passed away on Friday, January 14, 2022 at home surrounded by her loving family.  She was the daughter of the late Charles and Alice Massey. Mary was born and raised in Jersey City before getting married and moving to Brick in 1972.  She was the best wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, friend and neighbor anyone could have ever asked for. 

Mary was married to the love of her life, Phil for 61 wonderful years. They illustrated their love & commitment to each other by renewing their wedding vows at 25 & 50 year anniversaries.  They shared a bond that will continue in this life and after. Mary was an avid reader and would go to the local library with her young children and joke that she read every book in the library.  As a homemaker she enjoyed shopping and decorating her home.  She loved Karen’s Curtains & JCPenney and her children will tell you she spent endless hours browsing for new curtains.  

Mary worked part time for Provident Bank for many years after all of her children were school age. Mary & Phil enjoyed traveling later in life with family.  Mary’s most cherished time was spending quality time with her grandchildren who will always remember her as “Nan”.  She would do anything for her grandchildren and they adored her.  She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Alice Massey; her brother William Massey, her twin brother, Joseph (Terry) Massey and her sister Barbara Ranalli.  She is survived by her beloved husband Philip Donohue; children Kelly & Tony Petillo, Cathy & James Alexander & Patrick & Sara Donohue.  Her grandchildren Michael & Jenna Stancheck, Sean Courter, Morgan & Corey Donohue, Stephanie & Nicholas Alexander. Her siblings: Charles (Buddy) Massey & Florence Miranda plus numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Mary’s visitation will be held on Monday, January 24, 2022 from 12pm to 4pm at Horizon Funeral and Cremation Services, 1329 RT 37 West, Toms River, NJ.
