Born on June 23, 1936, in Huntington, NY, Mary Jo grew up in Oyster Bay NY, and lived her adult life in Point Pleasant. Her life was devoted to her family, friends, and the local community.
Mary Jo was known by all as kind, generous with her time, and compassionate. She was the mother that all the neighborhood kids knew and loved. She had a special relationship with her nieces and nephews. As the Emergency Room Registrar at the local hospital, she served as the perfect first contact for those in need of a kind and reassuring voice.
She was a dedicated lifetime advocate for animals. Mary Jo worked tirelessly until the very end of her life, helping the local animal population in any way she could. She and her dear friends at Point Paws, the Animal Welfare Committee of Point Pleasant, were devoted to their calling to help whenever needed, and their contributions were invaluable. She loved to visit the Riverfront Park and all the dogs knew she would always have a biscuit for them. She was a talented artist, had a great sense of humor and was a regular walker in town.
She is survived by her loving children: son David, and daughter Elizabeth, and her five cherished grandchildren: Christophe, Juliette, Daniel, Nina, and Noel. She is preceded in death by her husband David Noel Talbot, her mother Josephine Waters, her brother Paul, her aunt/friend Ida Zielazny, and her uncles, John and Eddie.
A private celebration of Mary Jo’s life will be held on Monday, December 29th 2025, in New Hampshire. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Point Paws, an organization very near and dear to her heart.
Mary Jo’s kind and creative spirit and her generous heart will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
