

Mauro W. Papa, age 95, a 49 year resident of Toms River, passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at home. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY he worked for the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Upon the closure of the Navy Yard he transferred to Lakehurst Naval Air Station, NJ.
He was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s R.C. Church, Toms River and was an Army veteran of WWII.
He is predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years, Florence since 2005. He is survived by his son: Stephen Papa and his wife Christine of Old Bridge; daughters Kathleen Bonventre and husband Michael of Waretown and Arleen Reilly and husband Edward of Toms River; sister Marie Nickel of Douglaston, NY. He is also survived by four loving granddaughters: Diane Johnson and husband Robert, Samantha Papa, Heather Papa and Nicole Papa who like other close friends affectionately knew him as “Poppie”.
Visiting will be held Sunday, August 17, 2014 from 2 :00 – 4:00 & 7:00 – 9:00 P.M. at Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St. Toms River. A Mass to celebrate his life will be held Monday, 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph’s R.C. Church, 685 Hooper Ave. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Toms River.
