

Michael was born on January 11,1948 in The Bronx, NYC, to Andrew Cervini and Mary Elizabeth Bachmann. In 1955 the family moved to Freeport, a Long Island suburb. He attended Freeport High School, where he played varsity football and was class president, and graduated in 1965. Michael attended the State University of New York College at Oswego, graduating in1969 with a BA in History. At SUNY Oswego, Michael was an active member of Phi Sigma Phi fraternity, and his brothers became treasured lifelong friends.
It was at SUNY Oswego that Michael met his future wife, Susan Jane Brown. Michael and Susan settled in Toms River, NJ, where they raised their two sons. Michael used his years of experience as a claims adjuster to open his own business, Cervini Adjustment, which served the Central New Jersey community for over 30 years.
Michael nurtured his love of history by exploring the New Jersey Pine Barrens, investigating and researching historic sites, and serving on the board of the Friends of Monmouth Battlefield, a critical Revolutionary War site. Mike loved taking visitors to the places he treasured in New Jersey. He called them his history and mystery jaunts. He was an avid reader and excelled at the New York Times Sunday Crossword Puzzle. Mike was also a sports fan and dedicated supporter of his sons’ ice hockey pursuits.
Michael is pre-deceased by his wife, Susan (Brown) Cervini and his son Justin David Cervini. Michael is survived by his son, Scott Michael Cervini, his sisters, Pat (Cervini) Vivian and Elizabeth (Cervini) Manvell, nieces, nephews, and many cousins. Michael will be remembered for his fun-loving personality, his quick, dimpled smile, and his welcoming hugs.
