

Neil Benson, 82, of Holiday City South passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, November 25, 2021. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Neil grew up in Cedar Grove, NJ and lived in the Denville area of NJ before settling in Holiday City South fifteen years ago.
A veteran of the US Army, Neil worked as an IT Manager for International Paper in Denville, NJ for sixteen years before retiring in 1988. He later worked as a consultant for BASF in Mount Olive, NJ and later for Colgate Palmolive until permanently retiring in 2006. A car enthusiast, he owned a 1957 Corvette and a Harley Davidson for many years. An accomplished musician, he played the trumpet and guitar and enjoyed playing at the Holiday City South Clubhouse.
Surviving are his loving wife of 27 years, Dorothy Fitzgerald Benson; his daughters, Donna Benson and Karen Benson; his step-daughters, Judi-Anne Scaglione, Donna Scaglione, and Debra O’Reilly and her husband Timothy; his step-daughter-in-law, Denise Scaglione and his grandchildren, Julius Pillai-Benson, Alistair Pillai-Benson, Christine Scaglione, Ryan Delonas, Kaitlyn Scaglione, Lauren Scaglione, Michele Scaglione, Domenic Scaglione, Kevin O’Reilly, Brendan O’Reilly and Brian O’Reilly. His brothers, Don Benson and his wife Sophie, Bob Benson and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his step-son Santo Scaglione.
A memorial visitation and service will be held on Sunday, December 5, 2021 from 11am to 1pm at Horizon Funeral and Cremation Services, 1329 Route 37 West, Toms River, NJ
