Patricia A. Elwood (Dacey), 85, of Milton, Delaware died on October 9, 2023, at Bayhealth Hospital in Dover, DE. She was born in Newark, NJ in 1938 and lived in NJ until 2016 when she moved to Milton, DE where she lived with her eldest daughter and her husband until she passed. Patricia had a deep love of animals and said her dream was to have enough property to rescue all the dogs/cats in shelters so they could live happy and carefree. If she could have, she would have. She loved going to the casino and playing the slots (just like her mother loved to do). She loved doing all kinds of puzzles (word search, crosswords, etc.). She said, “it was to keep her mind young”. She enjoyed going to the Senior Center to take classes and play bingo with her dear friend Marge. She worked as a telephone operator in her younger years but worked for almost 30 years at a local insurance agency before retiring in 1992.
Daughter of the late Lee and Ann Byrne, she was also predeceased by her husband of 37 years, Eugene Elwood; two brothers, Jack and Bill Dacey; and a daughter-in-law, Joyce Timm (that was just like a daughter to her). She is survived by her children Thomas Elwood of Belford, NJ; Ann Welch and her husband Steven of Milton, DE; Debbie Temple of Milford, DE; and 2 grandchildren Connor Alvear and Brendan Temple that she adored.
