Patrick R.J. McLaughlin

Patrick R.J. McLaughlin, age 74, of Berkeley Township, passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Community Medical Center, Toms River.  Born in Jersey City where he spent most of his life, Patrick loved spending time relaxing in his yard with his family, swimming in his pool, and people watching on his porch. 

Patrick was a loving husband and devoted father. Sweethearts since High School, on April 19, 1969, Patrick married his love, Virginia (Pitta) McLaughlin who he affectionately called “Gin”. Happily married for 52 years, they welcomed two beautiful daughters, Linda and Debra and five grandchildren for whom he loved more than anything in the world. 

Patrick worked for the United States Postal Service for 34 years as a forklift operator before retiring and moving to Toms River, NJ where he enjoyed going to the beach, playing cards or having dinner with friends, and spending time watching programs and reading about his passion for cars.

Patrick is survived by his wife Virginia, their two daughters Linda (McGrath) and her husband Thomas, Debra (Santana) and her husband Carlos, and five incredible grandchildren: Evan, Casey, Hailey, Kylie and Jiovani.  He is also survived by his youngest brother Daniel and sister-in-law Rosemary who reside in California, Brother-in-Law Peter Pitta, his niece Elayna, and nephews George and Joseph.

Patrick is predeceased by his Parents James and Joyce, his oldest brother James, and his younger sister Constance (Connie).

Patrick was one of the most caring people and always made time to help anyone in need, especially his family. His amazing smile, lovable laugh, and incredible sense of humor will truly be missed.

A Memorial Visitation will be on Saturday, February 5, 2022 from 1-3 PM at Horizon Funeral & Cremation Services, 1329 Route 37 W, Toms River, NJ.
