

Mr. Mekita was born in Clifton, NJ and lived there until relocating to Berkeley Township, 22 years ago. He was a machinist for Singer-Kearfott Aeronautics Guidance & Navigation in Wayne for 42 years before retiring.
He was an auto mechanic for most of his life and was an "old gear head". He loved camping and fishing in the great outdoors and was quite the caterer to squirrels, chipmunks and birds. Paul was an active member of the Men's Club as their secretary, working with the Boys and Girls Club of Clifton, as well as serving as their bingo caller.
He was predeceased by his parents, John and Anna Mekita, as well has his siblings Vera Harboy, John Mekita, and Dorothy Rachko.. Surviving is his wife of 60 years, Anita; children Michael Mekita and his wife, Brigid of Parsippany, Rozanne Mekita of Whiting, Patricia Ann Mekita of San Diego, CA, Mark Mekita of Lake Hopatcong, and Donna Kuhl and her husband, Stephen, of Iowa; grandchildren Meghan, Caitlin and Matthew Mekita and Kait Kuhl, and many other loving nieces, nephews, and dear friends near and far.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, October 1, 2016 from 2 to 5 and with a prayer service at 4:30 at Horizon Funeral & Cremation Services, 1329 Route 37 West, Toms River. In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to VNA Service Health Hospice. www.vnahg.org
