Philip F. Simon 86, of Toms River, passed away Sept 1, 2023 peacefully at home. He was with his beloved wife, Regina (Jean), nee Hauser, and surrounded by his huge loving family. Phil and Jean were happily married for over 64 years.
Phil grew up in Bloomfield, NJ. Phil and Jean married and raised their family in Clifton, NJ where they remained for over 25 years. The family then moved to Toms River where they have resided for the past 36 years.
He worked for many years at E.I. Dupont Explosive division in Pompton Lakes, NJ.
Phil was a US Marine, proudly serving from 1955-1961. He was a distinguished member of the Marine Corps League where he held many positions. The most prestigious being the Commandant for several terms while with the Marine Corps League, Toms River Det. # 796. He later joined the Marine Corps League, Cpl. William H. Smith Det. # 667. He was also a proud member of The Military Order of The Devil Dogs.
Phil loved life and would be the life of the party with his humor, pranks, and crazy jokes. He loved his music and he could dance! He would listen to music day and night. His vast music collection would rival the “best record stores”. This is not an understatement. Colony Records, which was located on Broadway in NYC, was interested in purchasing his collection!
Phil’s greatest sense of pride was his loving family.
He was predeceased by his parents, Elmer and Pearl Simon and his son in-laws: Ronald Birkner, John Zmudsky and Jim Borsh. He is survived by his devoted wife, Regina (Reggie); his loving brother Jerry Simon of Bloomfield, NJ; four daughters, Karen Zmudsky, Lorraine Bacsik (Jeff) , Eileen Borsh, and Erika Wharton (Mark); his ten Grandchildren: Christine, Jayme, Jimmy, Katie, Kimberly (Willy), Christopher, Brett, RonniVictoria, Johnny, and Melody; five Great grandchildren: Brielle, Jayden, Gabriella, Connor, and Cora; his devoted cat Mini who never left his side; and many more cherished friends and extended family.
Visitation will be on Saturday, September 9. 2023, from 2 pm to 6 pm, with a service at 5:30 pm followed by Marine Funeral Honors at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River. Cremation will be private.
