Ruth Catherine Barney

Ruth H. Barney, 83, of Toms River, NJ, passed away on April 22, 2016, at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Newark, NJ and grew up in Glen Ridge. She then resided in Roseland where she raised her family, until moving to Toms River in 2004. Ruth was a longtime member of The First Presbyterian Church of Livingston, and later The Presbyterian Church of Toms River. She loved playing Bridge at the Toms River Country Club and the Toms River Yacht Club. Her children and grandchildren will always remember her for the beautiful knitting and needlework she created.

Ruth was predeceased by her beloved husband Norman “Bob” Barney in 2009, her son Glenn in 2012, and her sister Marion. She is survived by her children: Scott Barney of Roseland, NJ, and Sharon Barney Casey and her husband Tom of Toms River; her daughter-in-law Ellen Barney of Red Bank; her sister Janice Heiderich Ernst of Monroe Township, NJ; and her wonderful grandchildren: Andrew, Maire, Kathleen and John. Ruth was a happy, loving person and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, April 29, from 2-4 and 7-9PM, at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River, NJ. A Funeral Service will be conducted 11AM Saturday at the funeral home. Cremation will be private.
