

Shannon C. Smith-Limaldi, 54, passed on December 20, 2023 peacefully at her Toms River home surrounded by her loved ones. Shannon was born June 19, 1969 in West Virginia. At the age of 5, she was adopted by Dorothy W. Smith, who proudly took on the role of mother to Shannon and her sister Helena Smith.
Shannon graduated from Roselle Catholic in Roselle, NJ Class of 1988. Following graduation, Shannon went on to attend Cittone Institute as well as Rutgers University. Shannon worked as an administrative assistant for more than 20 years before changing career paths in the mid 2010s. Shannon’s proudest career moments happened during her time as a Real Estate agent, experiencing true joy helping people find their forever home.
Shannon gave birth to her first child, Kyle Gordon, on May 5, 1993 and her second Child, Cheyenne Gordon, on May 20, 1996. On May 25, 2013, Shannon and her wife Carmelynn Limaldi entered into a civil union surrounded by friends and family. The following year on February 14, 2014 they headed to the courthouse to make their marriage official.
Shannon enjoyed a plethora of activities such as bowling, playing softball, painting, and most notably crocheting. During her free time, she could be found crocheting items for friends and families, as well as for patients at the cancer treatment centers that she attended.
Shannon was a very caring person who was always available to those that needed her. She was a loving mother, a devoted wife, and someone that could always put a smile on your face, despite whatever she was going through.
She was predeceased by her mother Dorothy W. Smith.
Shannon is survived by her wife, Carmelynn Limaldi of Toms River NJ; her son, daughter in law, and grandson, Kyle Gordon, Jayla Harvey, and Kyro Cright Gordon of South Plainfield NJ; her daughter, Cheyenne Gordon of Margate FL; her sister, Helena Smith of Phillipsburg NJ; as well as many loving friends and extended family members.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at Horizon Funeral and Cremation Services located at 1329 NJ-37 W in Toms River, NJ between the hours of 12pm-2pm. We ask that if you choose to attend, you wear the color purple in order to honor the most wonderful woman the world has ever known.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation to the American Cancer Society in her honor.
