

Tom was born to Elizabeth Ann ‘Dolly’ Redican and her husband, John Patrick ‘Jack’ Brady on May 19, 1949 at St. Francis Hospital in the Bronx, New York. He was baptized on June 18, 1949 at St. Rita Shrine Church in the Bronx. Tom was named after his godfather and maternal uncle Thomas Michael Redican. His godmother was his maternal aunt, Mary (Redican) Huston.
He was raised by his maternal grandmother, Agnes (McGurrin) Redican and his maternal uncle John Redican with additional support from his maternal uncle, James Redican. Tom attended and graduated from St. Rita’s Grammer School in the Bronx. He went on to graduate from East Orange High School in East Orange, New Jersey where the family settled when they left the Bronx.
In 1968, following high school, the family permanently moved to their summer home in Point Pleasant, New Jersey where Tom became active in local theater groups. He began his career as a radio announcer (disc jockey) with stations such as WOBM and WJRZ where he was known as ‘Tom Shannon’. He also worked for several years at XTU, a country station in the Philadelphia area. As a sideline, he spent a number of years, working gigs as a disc jockey on weekends at local wedding celebrations and family parties.
From a young age, Tom loved rock music, especially the Beatles. He maintained a large collection of albums and CDs throughout his life. His second great love was baseball. His love affair with baseball began when his maternal uncles would take him to ball games at the original Yankee Stadium. In later life, he became a great fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and he was often found glued to the TV watching Cardinal games or whenever possible attending a live baseball game. The third love of his life was watching old movies and original TV shows. Tom also loved the season of Christmas and as an adult, he made sure that the Christmas tree went up as soon as possible right after Thanksgiving covered with plenty of lights and his favorite Christmas ornaments.
Tom passed away after a long illness on January 8, 2026 in Toms River. He will be interred in the family plot at St. Joseph Cemetery in Toms River, New Jersey on March 13, 2026. He leaves his family members and a wonderful collection of lifelong friends especially his friend Les who shared more than fifty years of friendship with Tom.
