

Island Heights, NJ –Timothy C. Cagney, 86, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 25, 2021. Tim was born in Long Branch, NJ and his family moved to Island Heights, NJ in 1945. Tim was a graduate of St. Joseph Grade School and Toms River High School, where he was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame with the 1951 football team. He proudly served his country in the United States Army.
Tim was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was a gifted contractor and was known for his quality craftsmanship. He was a member of the Island Heights Volunteer Fire Department for 64 years. At one time he assisted the First Aid Squad in delivering a baby. Tim was a member of the Rotary Club of Toms River for 52 years and was a Paul Harris Fellow. Tim worked with the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department as a volunteer Deputy to establish the first bloodhound unit in the state of New Jersey.
Tim is predeceased by his parents Charles and Lillian (O’Brien) Cagney, his brothers, David and Denis Cagney, his sisters Mary Cagney, Patricia Osborn and Annette Milligan. Surviving are his sister Claire Cagney and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 28, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St., Toms River. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, 685 Hooper Ave, Toms River. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
