Vincent De Maio, age 100, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025, in Toms River, New Jersey. Born on January 1, 1925, in Jersey City, Vincent lived a long and beautiful life filled with love, purpose, and quiet strength.
Above all else, Vincent’s greatest pride and joy was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Andrea, the love of his life, and their son, Daniel. Vincent was preceded in death by Mary Livich, the mother of his cherished daughter, Florence “Chicki,” and sons, Vincent and Robert. He was a devoted grandfather to nine grandchildren and a proud great-grandfather to nine great-grandchildren. Vincent was the beloved son of Joseph and Florence De Maio and an adored brother to Pasqual “Pat,” Ralph, John “Sonny,” Anthony “Butch,” Frederick, Jerry, and his beloved sister, Josephine “Jo-Jo.”
Vincent spent much of his life working hard and standing up for others as a proud Teamsters Union truck driver. At APA Trucking, he served as a union shop steward and later as a Teamsters Local Secretary-Treasurer and Business Agent. He believed strongly in fairness, loyalty, and protecting working people, but above all, he believed in always doing the right thing.
Vincent had a gentle presence that made people feel safe, welcomed, and cared for. He didn’t need many words; his kindness spoke for him. His laugh, his smile, and his steady way of being brought comfort to everyone around him. Wherever Vincent was, it felt like home. Anyone who walked into his life never wanted to leave the warmth of his presence.
He found happiness in the simple joys of life: warm sunshine, good music, and especially being near the water, which was truly his happy place. Whether sitting by the shore or enjoying a peaceful day, Vincent lived with gratitude and quiet contentment.
It would be remiss not to mention that Vincent also loved hosting poker nights, taking trips to Atlantic City, and making—and even more so enjoying—a few glasses of wine.
Vincent leaves behind a legacy of love, integrity, and connection. He will be deeply missed, always loved, and forever remembered in the hearts of his family and all who were blessed to know him.
Private services for Vincent will be held at a later date.
