Wanda Schilling died on June 13th, at age 89, at home with family. A Toms River resident since 1967, Wanda was born in Oklahoma and moved to California at a young age, where she and her four sisters grew up.
After marriage, she and her growing family moved to New York, Vermont, California, Iowa, Montana, Germany, and New Jersey as a result of her former husband’s Air Force career.
In the early 1970s, she served as a Democratic challenger at election polls and later worked as a Realtor, an LPN at Paul Kimball Hospital, and a visiting home nurse through Ocean Medical.
She was preceded in death by her son, Christopher M. Schilling; and is survived by her children, Thomas Schilling (Meg), Candace Cowdrick (Larry), John Schilling, Diana Frazier (Jeff), and Christel Mastropierro (John); in addition to seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and two sisters, Norma Morgan and Kaye Hernandez.
The family is thankful for the care and companionship she received in recent years at The Regency and Alcouer Gardens. They will have a private dinner to celebrate her life.
