She was a lovely teacher with an incredible spirit and zest for life. She cast me in roles that remain among my favourite to this day. I was honoured to have known her. She will be missed.

While I missed having her as a teacher, Alison was a significant influence in encouraging my work in theatre, giving me my first big role, fostering a passion, joy, dedication and generosity that I hope to carry forward in all my work. She will be remembered with a lot of love and respect. My condolences to the family. I am grateful for having known her.

I have just heard the news and I am so sad. Alison was a beautiful , giving and warm person. I loved working with her and it was my great pleasure to have her as one of our leaders on my staff at Earl Haig. She and I loved to tease each other from past experiences teaching together. When I became Principal ,she insisted on calling me "Your Maj" with great affection and a lovely twinkle in her eye.I send my love and my hopes that happy memories of Alison will give you the strength to carry on to David and her family.

Alison was my teacher at Earl Haig. She put her faith in me as a young adolescent who was passionate about theatre and helped me to achieve extraordinary things at school. The opportunities that she gave me to grow and develop transformed my life in so many ways. I will forever hold her in my heart as a cherished teacher, mentor and friend. David and family, my thoughts are with you in this time of sorrow.

Alison's joy just permeated a room. I am honoured to have known her.

It was such a joy to have Alison in our midst the years she sang in Echo Women's Choir.  She radiated warmth and vitality, and will always hold a place in my heart. My condolences to David and the family.

I am shocked and saddened by Alison's passing. That such a vibrant and vital person is gone, is difficult to fathom. I wish David, the children and grandchildren ease and grace in this difficult time. Looking back, I'm so glad the Claude Watson drama department managed to get together last year. We are now one less.

Sorry for your loss, David and family. I met Alison through meditation at Mary Sue's and yoga with Fr. Jack. She was always curious, open, and friendly, with a smile that lit up any room. One day,I met her at the Arnprior Hospital cafeteria...I was short of cash and Alison very generously bought my lunch. She was very kind and a lady in every respect.

My heartfelt condolences to the Stein family. Alison was a wonderful teacher and mentor for me at Haig. She was always encouraging, positive, yet challenging. She helped me discover my love of theatre, and the joy of creating something wonderful. 
Alison, you are and will always be remembered with love.

Alison was a stimulating person of many interests, thoughtful in discussion and wanting to do, experience, play. 
As a teacher she was always fair, reflective and professional. She gave so much beyond the required, directing many exceptional productions at Vannier and Earl Haig. 
She was also an eager creative collaborator helping with ideas and vision and unstintingly undertaking costumes and whatever else was needed. 
Finally she was a wonderful friend -empathetic,supportive, generous insightful. 
I learned much from her.
I am so happy that I was able to experience and share these sides of her, and I have many fond memories. Thank you, Alison.

My deepest sympathies to Alison's family. I remember her as a source of encouragement, a lover of the arts, a woman of high spirits and generous laughter. She was bold enough to push for excellence and brought out the best in her students. I was lucky to know her.

Alison was my high-school drama teacher almost 40 years ago and a hugely positive influence in my life at that time. She was a great teacher and a good person. Alison was never far from my thoughts and I will always remember her fondly. Heartfelt condolences to David and their children.

I am so sorry for your loss. I can honestly say Mrs. Stein had a lasting impact on my life. She helped me through the Claude Watson admissions process, and was an amazing support and good friend. I am forever grateful and will remember her always.

Throughout my career I crossed paths with Alison many times, from courses to schools, and finally with our working together at Earl Haig. She was a beautiful person, inside and out, an amazing teacher and a wonderful colleague. She was an inspiration to us all. Condolences to David, her children, family and friends at this very sad and difficult time.

My heartfelt condolences to Alison's family. She was my drama teacher at Earl Haig S.S. / Claude Watson School for the Arts 1986 - 1990, and her lessons captivated me and encouraged my growth as a person.  Her light will live on in all the lives that she touched as a teacher.  RIP Mrs. Stein.

We remember Alison Stein with love, gratitude, and admiration. Her name is inscribed forever in the first page of our Passover Haggadah.

Mrs. Stein was my high school Drama Majors teacher for two years.  She tought me not just about art and culture, but how to be a better human being.  As a young (and still Closeted) gay teen, her words and heart were tremendously important to me.  In one of our last interactions, as I'd graduated from the Arts program, she pulled me aside to let me know that inside me was someone who was going to succeed, beyond my dreams, whenever i was ready to 'let him out' - i knew exactly what she meant.  I love you, Mrs. Stein.  Thank you for helping shape the man I am today.

We feel so very far away at times like this. We remember Alison's kindness during Ben's guitar student days. Also the many Christmas carol parties..so fun. We are with you all in your great loss.

Alison was a fantastic drama teacher at George's Vanier S.S. In North York. She helped to shape me into the person and teacher I am today. It was so wonderful to reach out to her and talk with her a couple of years ago. She will always be a happy place for me to think of. Thank you Alison for making me the confident person I am today. Deepest condolences to you all.  I was at school with Ben, and later we sang with the TMYC together; recently I was so glad to reconnect with your family through serving with your mother on the L'Arche Arnprior board.  Alison will be deeply missed.

Alison was the newest member on the Board of Directors for L'Arche Arnprior. Even though most of us only knew her for a short time, she will be missed. It is not often that we have someone come into our presence with the knowledge and skills that Alison had.
