Allan passed away on May 21, 2021 in his 72nd year. He was sitting in his favorite chair in his new apartment. He was still feeling the loss of his only brother Douglas Ian, July 24, 2020. Now he has joined him in the great beyond.
Allan was the eldest son of Howard and Elizabeth (Burlington) Mawson. He was born November 28, 1949 and his home was 456 Cranbrooke Rd. He attended high school at Sir Sandford Fleming.
On his paternal side his Aunt Shirley Aileen Mawson is left to mourn his passing. His cousins are Frederick Robbins (Cheryl), Kenneth Robbins (Ruth), Carolynne Phillips (Tom) and Heather Msi (Vusi).
On his maternal side, he is predeceased by his Aunt Beryl (Burlington) Farr, Jean Burlington, Lorne Burlington (Mary), Walter Burlington (Eunice), George Burlington. Left to mourn are his cousins are Nancy (Farr) Willner (Jonathan) Patrick Farr (son), John Farr (Judy Low), Tom Burlington, Michael Burlington, John Burlington, Lee Burlington, Glenn Burlington, Wayne Burlington, Shawn Burlington.
A small private graveside will be held in the next few weeks at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto. Allan will be placed with his Dad, Howard and his brother Douglas in the Mawson family plot. Their closest friends Cindy and Marty Barnartt are mournful of this deep loss.
Allan followed his parents acting career with Douglas by his side. The founding of the Toronto Light Opera Co. by Fred and Howard Mawson started the beginning of a very long acting and singing experience for members of the Mawson family. Allan and Doug were extras many times as young men on stage. One such production Howard his dad, Elizabeth his mom and Fred Mawson his grandfather were in the same performance. Fred held the baton over the stage and orchestra as maestro.
Allan will be missed in P.E. I. as both Doug and Allan were faithful season supporters and promoters of the Charlottetown Center. They attended many productions as their mom; Elizabeth Mawson was 35 years on stage as Aunt Marilia in “Anne of Green Gables”. Many summer evenings, dinners, and memories have been celebrated in Charlottetown with them. The “Mawson Boys” will be missed, the lights now have dimmed, the theater of their life closed.
Donations can be made to the “Elizabeth Mawson Theatre Legacy Fund” Charlottetown, P.E. I. by contacting the Charlottetown Center.
