Brother Smith is what I called him for he was a brother indeed.  We called each other at least once every two weeks. We laughed together for he really had a funny bone. We talked about old time, concerning Nevis the land of our birth.  His faith was deep-rooted in God so we prayed together. He was like a light shining in the dark sky of our world. We will miss him, but why should we weep? He has gone to receive his great reward. He now lives in a land that is fairer than day. So at this moment we will pray for Dorothy Smith and the rest of the family that God will give them strength to bear the pain of separation. God be with you all!

TRIBUTE
     Through our cousin Dorothy, we came to know Ed.  The first thing that we noticed was his endearing  smile that always brightened his countenance and which had the potential to brighten many dreary days.
     Ed had the desire to do something that would increase the welfare and happiness of others. The beauty that formed in his mind and the loveliness that draped his thoughts were expressed in poetry which soothed and quieted the readers and reminded them of many forgotten values and virtues.
     He expressed the beauty of his inner self by the way he loved and cared for his family especially Dorothy. His supportiveness and strength were assets to their lives. He really lived when he ministered to them in the spirit of love.
     Ed will be sadly missed by his immediate and extended families. Our hearts go out to you in this time of bereavement. May you find strength, encouragement and comfort in the words of Jesus in Matthew 5:4 â€œBlessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comfortedâ€.

There are so many wonderful memories ... here is my fondest. Bro. Smith always shared one or more verse of an old hymn written by Howard A. Walter with me ("I would be True"). It became our way of telling each other to "Stay strong, sister ... brother!".

I appreciated Bro. Smith's humour and encouraging words, especially his calls and prayers in some of our most challenging times. He truly looked up, lived and laughed and lifted others. My tribute to him is to follow his inspired example of how to love, laugh and live.

Be true, be strong, be faithful, have faith ... with love from our family to yours.

Dear Dorothy & Children,
We were deeply saddened by the news about Edmeade. He was indeed a wonderful person. I recall how jovial, friendly and deeply spiritual he was since we knew him in Charlestown Nevis. Here in Toronto we always exchanged greetings on the phone every Christmas,  and always sang one of the favourite Christmas songs that were sung in Charlestown when we lived there. He had an amazing talent for mimicking politicians and professionals, and was a good example to others of living a wholesome and faith-filled life. We will miss him, but we are assured that his soul will rest in peace.  We offer our deep sympathy to you, and pray that you will allow our Good Lord to continue to provide ALL YOUR NEEDS.
