It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Dyce (née Hamill) who died peacefully at the Lakeside Long Term Care Centre on January 26, 2016 at 82 years old. Barbara will be greatly missed by Peter, her beloved and devoted husband of 58 years, her sons Shane ( Lesley) and Rider (Claudine), her dear sister Carole, her beloved granddaughter Erin, and was greatly loved by her adored daughter Tanya who pre-deceased her. Barbara had a great passion and curiosity about the world and all its wonderful opportunities but foremost among them was that of devoted mother, wife, and artist. For over 50 years Barbara tirelessly produced many works of art of different styles and mediums and exhibited in art shows and galleries in Montreal, Toronto and the United States. Born in Montreal, Barbara immersed herself in the arts at a young age, as a child actress at the Children’s Theatre in Montreal and on a Saturday morning children’s show on CFCF radio. She later earned her Bachelor of Arts at Sir George Williams College (Concordia University) and a degree in education from the University of Toronto. Barbara was a friend to many with a unique ability to instantly connect with people with her kindness, selfless energy and a positive approach to life. We would like to thank all the wonderful staff at Lakeside Long Term Care Centre for their compassionate care and support. Friends are invited to a visitation at the Rosar-Morrison Funeral Home & Chapel, 467 Sherbourne Street (South of Wellesley), Toronto on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 from 1-2:30 p.m. followed by interment at Mount Pleasant Cemetery at 3 p.m. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada.
