Dear Michael, Taryn and Taylor,

My deepest and most sincere condolences.  
Barb was one of my earliest mentors as l began my  professional journey in Early Childhood Education. I will always remember Barb’s encouragement when, as a student completing an Infant Placement, and very unsure of this age group, Barb, as my Field Faculty, and with her supportive, thoughtful and  kindness, gave me the greatest reassurance.   Today, over 25 years later, l am  so thankful to have  had so many wonderful and joyous memories as an Infant Educator. Thank you Barb, for all of your genuine kindness, mentorship, and giving so many around you, the privilege of your knowledge and positivity.  You will be so very missed and l feel so blessed to have had you as part of my extraordinary journey in Early Childhood Education.

The world of Early Childhood Educators has lost one of its brightest stars. I was blessed to have had Barb Pimento as one of my professors at  Lambton College from 1978-1980.  She inspired me to continue my education and I was then fortunate to have our paths cross over the years during the time she taught at George Brown and I taught at Lambton. She was an incredible teacher, advocate, role model and visionary. Her contributions to the field of education are endless. She and her husband Michael were role models to so many of us. I loved being mentored by Barb, her book and ideas were such an inspiration and impacted my teaching throughout many years at Lambton! I wasn't fortunate enough to have her as one of my teachers, she left just after I started as a student, but I remember being excited to have her as a teacher in the next term.  Sadly, I missed out as she moved to Toronto before that could happen. Loved getting to know you Mike, and Barb through Liz, Balder and the ECE Coordinators group over the years.

Michael, Taryn, Taylor and the entire Pimento family I am so sorry to hear of Barb’s passing, she will be greatly missed by many.
I fist met Barb back in 1979 when I was working for city run childcare centres and she was the faculty from GBC, for the students that I was guiding in their placement. She was one of those people that you instantly liked and the two of us just clicked right away. Six years later I found myself working at GBC and it was great to see a familiar face.
Being around Barb was always fun and we shared many laughs over the years especially when we went to Pennsylvania and Aruba. In Aruba she would call me Debbie Dushie 
( meaning sweetheart or honey), she just liked how it sounded. Anyway, whenever she would see me that was my name. 
I will miss her knowledge, sweetness, laughter, but most of all her smile.

What an incredible woman your Mom was. It is such an immense loss to say goodbye to your mother and my heart is grieving with you. 

I remember every interaction I had with your Mom was one of warmth. Back in high school when she would attend school events, or when we would drop by your home, she always had a way of making me feel like she was interested in each of us. She was easy to talk to and a beautiful person to be around.

Dear Michael and family,

I send my deep condolences to all of you.
I got to know Barb at Nightingale Campus where I worked in the RTE program from 1985-2003.  I have many memories of Barb’s warmth, enthusiasm, and ability to connect in a way that mattered even if only for a few minutes on the run in the hallway.
I was lucky to be a beneficiary of Barb’s vision and commitment to promoting wellness at work back in the early 2000s at Nightingale Campus before the ECE program moved to the Sally Horsfall Eaton building. Barb arranged yoga clases for both students and staff once a week with a very talented yoga teacher, Christine Reeves. This was my gateway to a a love of yoga for the past 20+ years. 
I will continue to thank Barb for that vital introduction and remember her with great fondness and appreciation.

Dear Michael & family,

I was shocked and saddened when I learned of the passing of Barb.
As a former manager of the  GBC lab centres for many years, Barb was my "GO-TO" consultant with whom I seek advices on health issues and illnesses in the centre.   She was a great listener and offered suggestions on how to deal with not so happy families when they were told that their child has to stay home!  The  old  set of Well-Being Books and the Healthy Foundation book written by Barb and her co-authors are the living documents in my office shelf.   Thanks Barb for your dedication and your legacy will live on.

We are so sad, for the loss of our dear neibhour at the Bellagio, the place Michael and Barb called home.  Barb was so beautiful and so gracious, she understood my husband’s illness and always had a kind word to say, a beautiful smile and a cute twinkle in her eye. She also knew she was not well and worried about Michael, she talked often about her children and grandchildren with love. I knew how much she was loved and loved back. Michael may the love you shared with Barb ease the pain of her loss. May the family be comforted in knowing that she was loved and so well cared for by Michael in her illness , who he so proudly called my wife. We loved her and will remember Barb eternally . In 2004, I attended the International Early Childhood Conference in Montreal with a group of colleagues. I was fortunate to be part of that group, as it gave me the opportunity to share a road trip with Barb. Her generosity, kindness, radiant smile, heartfelt laughter, and wonderful sense of humour made that journey truly memorable. I have often thought back to that trip, and what made it so special was Barb herself. At the time, I was quite new to GBC, and her warm, welcoming, and inclusive spirit made me feel I belonged right away.
Barb touched my heart in a way I will never forget. I will always remember her laughter, her kindness, and the way she made people feel seen and included. She will be dearly missed.
Please accept my heartfelt condolences. I hope you find comfort in knowing how profoundly Barb touched the lives of those around her, and may her memory continue to bring you peace and strength.

Barb was a beacon of strength with her family and especially with my son Desmond. 

I will forever be grateful to her knowledge, wisdom and caring demeanor. Her influence on Desmond during his early years as a child and young man are clearly evident today.

I met Barb in the late 1980's at the Nightingale campus of George
Brown College. What followed was over 30 years of her being a colleague, friend and one of the kindest people I've ever known.  She had a gift for making you feel you were the most important person in the room. A much loved and respected professor, Barb was particularly good with students who needed extra guidance and support.   I will miss her humour, elegance and joie de vivre. Barb made a difference. Because of her, the world is a better place.

Barb was my teacher at Lambton  College from 1978-1980. We all loved her. I had the pleasure of seeing her again when I worked for George Brown College lab school number 2. I had her ECE students in my preschool room. Her students at George Brown said they loved her also. Then when I joined the ECE faculty at Lambton College I would see her most every year at the CAAT's conference. It was always a great welcome and hug to see her and catch up with her family news.  She was a ray of sunshine for me. She truly will be missed. Mary Ann Gordon .

I had the pleasure of working with Barb during her time as the health promotion specialist for Steve Ciric and I. She was always full of such positive energy, and planned meaningful and enriched opportunities for our students to experience. It was such an honour to work with Barb, to get to know what a special person she was and just to sit and chat about life!

To all Family, 
Barb is my dearest lifelong friend.  She had many, many best friends, but she was my one Very Best Friend.  She helped me throughout my life and I hope I helped her in some small way.
We met when we were 11 years old, at St. Mark's elementary school, in Aylmer, Quebec.  Instant friends. 
When we were 19 and on a bus in Montreal, Barb told me she had a crush on a handsome boy, named Michael.  We were sharing an apartment for the summer.  I knew she would win his heart.
Barb was my Maid of Honor in 1975 and she chose me to be her Matron of Honor in 1976.
Throughout the many years we visited, wrote, phoned, sent gifts and continued to kept in touch until her illness progressed to a point that she was unable to visit me and I was no longer invited to visit her.
Barb's empathy, loyalty, complete goodness knew no bounds.  She is the kindest, truest person I have ever known.
I will miss Barb forever.  I carry her in my heart every day, eternally grateful to her for all the many and great memories she has given me and her truly incredible friendship.  Everyone who knows Barb, knows her complete acceptance and her love.  She has helped many friends navigate life and I was also rescued many times.

Dear Michael and family --- Barb was one of the most talented, intelligent, kind and collaborative faculty members I ever worked with. She taught me so much by word and example. Her contribution to ECE at GBC and to the field in Canada will be among her many legacies. Barb was a light in my life when I need it most. She'll be remembered for her loving nature and beautiful smile. I love her a lot. She was always looking out for me and always wanted the best for everyone she met.

From the very first moment I met Barb, I felt a spark of joy. She had such a vibrant spirit, and even in the face of challenges, she carried herself with a light that never dimmed. Over the past year, spending Saturdays with her became one of the greatest blessings of my life. Whether we were playing dominoes, going to the Pride Parade, bird watching, or simply laughing together until our cheeks hurt, Barb’s smile was always there—bright, contagious, unforgettable.

We shared so many little rituals that filled our time with warmth: rewatching Schitt’s Creek again and again, painting birdhouses, making cards, and sipping frozen lemonades from Tim Hortons—even though no matter how slowly we tried, we always ended up with brain freeze. Those simple moments were magic because they were with her. Barb quickly became one of my favourite people to be around, and I will always feel grateful for the joy and meaning she brought into my life.

It was also moving to witness the depth of care and devotion between Barb and Micheal—the love and support they shared was a beautiful reminder of what it means to walk alongside someone through life.

Barb was a light, pure and steady, who left every space brighter than she found it. I will forever cherish our memories, and I will carry her laughter with me always. I can’t wait to see the sunsets she paints across the sky, and I will look for her in every bird that passes—a reminder that her spirit is still all around us. 🕊️🤍

Barb will be remembered as a truly kind, compassionate, and accepting soul who welcomed everyone just as they were. She had a gift for making people feel seen and valued, and her gentle nature touched the lives of so many. As an educator, she was a wonderful model of patience, wisdom, and care, someone who inspired many. Beyond her warmth and generosity, Barb brought laughter into every room she entered. Her humour and lighthearted spirit reminded us not to take life too seriously and to find joy in small moments. She leaves behind a legacy of love, acceptance, and laughter that will continue to guide and inspire all of us who had the privilege of knowing her.

I will always carry with me the way Barb encouraged me to pursue my dreams and reach for the stars. Her belief in me gave me strength, and her words will remain a source of inspiration in my life.

I have so much to say about the most amazing person I’ve ever met. What an honour it was to have had Barb as my mentor, my inspiration and my dearest friend. We worked side-by-side at George Brown College - office neighbors. Anytime I needed anything, Barb was right next door whether it be a snack, a laugh or some advice. My heart aches so much about the loss and the pain experienced but Chris and I feel incredibly blessed to have had such a wonderful and smart woman in our lives. Barb taught me so much, most importantly, how to laugh and have fun. I will and have missed her so dearly and will forever honour her. I thank Barb for being the truest gem in my life, so rare and unique. To the Pimento family - sending you strength and lots of love. Losing a legend is not easy especially when they were the life of ALL parties. Thinking of you all.

As a part-time faculty member for years at GBC,  Barb always treated me like a 'full-time' colleague.  That was Barb, making sure everyone felt belonging and valued.  She was optimistic,  cheerful and kind.  Thank you Barb, you left the world a better place.

Barb was such a dear soul.  You couldn't meet her without instantly liking her. I met Barb when I was quite young. We sang together and even though I was a young kid, and she was a young woman,  she treated me like a peer.  She was kind to me, and to boot, she was a great singer. I remember with fondness  her singing love song duets with her "person" Michael.  It was amazing to see their chemistry and it was a privilege to be able to witness it.  Barb I hope you are still singing with a choir of angels.  My deepest condolences go out to Michael, the children, their partners, grandchildren and extended family.  May Barb's memory be a blessing.
