Bart Sisk passed away peacefully at his North York home on May 24th, 2025, at age 73. Born in Brandon, Manitoba, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with a minor in Philosophy from Brandon University, followed by a Master of Economics from the University of Alberta.
A lifelong learner with a keen analytical mind, Bart spent his career with Toronto-Dominion Bank, where he became a pioneer of quantitative analysis in risk management, spearheading many of the bank’s earliest “quant” initiatives. Colleagues remember him as a treasured mentor and a reliable guide whose counsel helped shape many careers.
In retirement, he walked and cycled North York's ravine paths daily, delighting in encounters with neighbourhood dogs and the wildlife that shared the valleys. A lifelong player of games, Bart's passion evolved from historical simulation board games in his youth to Atari cartridges, then ever-evolving PC titles, and finally to the complex Xbox games that occupied his later years.
Bart was a very smart and friendly guy. He is lovingly remembered by his brother Clay Sisk and sister-in-law Mary; niece Shannon Geske (Kyle); great-nieces Acelyn and Evelyn Geske; great-niece Natalie Werry-Sisk; cousin Vergie Bancur; and many former colleagues. Bart was predeceased by his parents, John and Rogene Sisk.
A private cremation has taken place. Those wishing to honor his memory are invited to make a donation to the Toronto Humane Society.
Rest in peace Bart.
