two ex-wives. He is survived by 6 children:
Lorraine Hoult (Jim), Patricia Wescome (Cecil),
Tim (Marian), Kenneth, Michael (Glenda),
Vincent (Genevieve); 7 grandchildren: Erin, Adam,
Scott, Cameron, Ben, Taylor and Vanessa; his sister
Kathleen and his twin Bernice. Uncle to 18 nephews
and nieces, great-uncle to 43 and great-great uncle
to 10. Predeceased by his father and mother, Jack and
Elsie, his sister Mary, his brothers John, Jim, David
and Fred and his grandchildren Kyle and Kim.
Bernard was with American News from 1946-1947,
8 years with Canadian Pacific Hotels, 1948 – 1956,
and 35 years with Domtar Newsprint, 1956 to 1991.
He was president of the United Irish Societies of
Montreal from 1985 to 1987. Songster for over 50 years
in Toronto, Montreal and Port Colbourne, where he
entertained seniors in nursing homes. Bernard was
also an amateur actor in Montreal from the 1940’s
through the 1970’s. He will be missed by many.
“May he be in heaven half an hour before the devil
knows he’s dead.” A celebration of his life will be
held in Toronto at the Jerrett Funeral Home, 1141
St. Clair Avenue West (1 block east of Dufferin St)
on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 1 p.m. Visitation
will begin one hour before the ceremony. Online
