AVIS DE DÉCÈS

Bryan Flint

30 décembre 1943 – 11 avril 2021
Avis de décès de Bryan Flint
AUX SOINS DE

Rosar-Morrison Funeral Home & Chapel

Bryan passed peacefully at the age of 77, preceded in death by his beloved wife of thirty years, Marg (2014). He was born in Toronto on December 30th 1943, the second eldest of 7 children to Victor and Doris Flint, both since passed. His siblings include Velcie (deceased 2015), George, Iris (Norm), Jo-Anne, Linda (deceased 1986) and Brett.

Always a hard worker, he started his working life as a teen delivering groceries for Loblaws. From there it was, in no particular order, a city bus driver, manager at Kmart as well as at a printing company, a scrap metal company and a car parts manufacturer. Not long ago he spoke about driving a big rig on routes in the U.S. but, sadly, this might have been his recently diagnosed dementia talking.

Music was important in his life. He played the harmonica, piano and trumpet, and had a beautiful voice. He sang in his church choir and was a member of a barbershop quartet. He loved Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra and Neil Diamond. Bryan’s daughter Charlene fondly remembers her dad teaching her to play a song on the trumpet. And the pictures attached to this remembrance include Bryan playing the piano with his eldest grandchild, Chelsea.

Bryan’s many hobbies included photography (he had his own dark room), fishing (he was a snowbird and spent winters in Florida), gardening, astronomy, card games, bird watching, and, probably the most important of any of them, driving. He loved to drive; it seemed to give him a sense of freedom. Oh and food. Bryan loved his food. He was the best for spoiling his kids and grandkids with treats, probably because it gave him an excuse to have some for himself!

Bryan is also survived by his children, Charlene (Jason) and Nancy (Tim); his step-children, Laura, Kate (Kirby) and Michelle (Jim); his grandchildren, Chelsea (Warren), Kira, Georgia, Elliot, Charlie and Eleanna; and his great-grandchildren, Michael and Sophie; as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the staff at St Michael’s on both the orthopaedic and the palliative care units for their compassionate care of Bryan in his final days. A very special thank you to Dr. Camilla Wong and Marjorie Hammond for their exceptional listening skills, accessibility and thoughtful guidance.

To respect Bryan’s wishes and in keeping with his private nature, cremation has taken place and no services will be held.
