Mom was born in Montreal to Carl & Mabel Liberty with a weak heart, a "blue baby"...but she proved that wrong every day of her life...with her strong & passionate heart. A heart ready to help and reach out to anyone in need. A heart full of love, generosity and giving. She worked hard for everything that she achieved in life and she would be the first to say that she may not have done things right, but she did her best at the time.
Siblings: Arthur Frederick
The late, Harry Newman & Shirley Anne
Mom was fortunate to have loved deeply and married twice:
Married to: Douglas Watson Davies (Toronto)
(& became an immediate and young mom to Lesley)
Children: Lesley, Kimberly & David
Grand Children: Roland, Crystal Travis, Shane & Ashley
Great Grand Children: Noah & Jace
Married to: Maurice Daoust (Montreal)
and became a step mom again, but this time to adult children, Lilly, Norman & Andre
Mom was fiercely protective of her children & family...she was the strongest woman...our rock...our family matriarch...which reached beyond our true family.
She was always the guiding light and knew just what to do to help & direct everyone. She always said..."its ok, I have broad shoulders". If we were looking for something, she knew where to find it, what store sold it or who was selling it. You could always rely on mom to find it.
Gardening was another of her passions. She won a home garden award in Ile Perrot...and when she moved to Orillia everyone said "oh you won't have great gardens here...you will have problems with the lawn as no one before was able to have a nice lawn". Wrong! She also won a home improvement & garden award there too!
Mom met every challenge in her life. We knew not to dare her unless "that" was the outcome that we were looking for!
When infection robbed her of her mobility, she said "I always accomplish what I set my mind to...I am going to get sensations back in my legs...I am going to take a step...I WILL walk again one day".
Well she worked very hard in her hospital bed, in her wheel chair and at the gym at Lyndhurst. She did regain an unbelievable amount of sensation & movement. The Surgeon said that she wouldn't and mom took that on as a dare! She was able to stand up in the Lyndhurst Gym with her Physio Therapist and she could move her foot forward! As for walking again, she did not say where she would be walking.
So now she will be walking in heaven. Reuniting with missed family & friends...asking if anyone needs a hand, 'cause she is there to help.
We love you & will miss you forever!
Kim & Dave
P.S… Mom, Crys and I will keep our bears close so that you are close to us too!
